Stallone Is BACK!
Yes, Sylvester Stallone is back as Rambo, and he’s here to punch, stab, and kill bad guys and shred them with arrows in Rambo 5: Last Blood — and in the process, the trailer reminds us how far apart the franchise is from the original film, First Blood, which released in 1982 as an adaptation of David Morrel’s novel. Since then, the rough-and-tough one-man army has waged several wars against small town thugs, Soviet soldiers and Afghanistan, and brutal members of the Burmese Army. Now, having returned to his Arizona family ranch in the last film, Rambo will take on all comers on his own sod, as exposed in the film’s first trailer.
We will be able to witness this epic action drama in theaters from September 20, 2019, Rambo: Last Blood. The movie cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Adrianna Barraza, Yvette Monreal, Genie Kim aka Yenah Han, Joaquin Cosio, and Oscar Jaenada.
According to trailer, the stakes are very personal this time, as Rambo is waging war against a drug association that has kidnapped the daughter of his friend. And this is going to encourage him to become his most hazardous self, complete with a house full of booby traps.
If you look carefully you may notice all the modifications that Rambo makes to his farmhouse in Rambo: Last Blood. Crossbows equipped with trip wires and a tunnel system that has a pitchfork that can pop up into a guy’s chest anytime. There are enough vantage points to give Rambo his best shot as every shot is a crucial part of Rambo: Last Blood’s house of horrors. Only if you add some explosive Micro Machines and mini wrecking balls made out of paint cans, and you will get an R-rated version of Home Alone.
Age Does Not Slow Him
Stallone maybe 72, but age hasn’t slowed him down at all. The trailer opens with a country western theme showing that Rambo is still struggling to make peace with his past as a Vietnam War veteran. He is probably suffering from PTSD. He says “I have lived in a world of death. I have watched people I loved die” with Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ playing in the background.
The trailer depicts a haunted man who is going to face new enemies and make new ghosts when one of Mexico’s most brutal association kidnap the daughter of his caretaker Maria for a sex trafficking racket. “Rambo teams up with a journalist to track down and rescue a group of local girls that have been kidnapped by a Mexican sex trafficking ring, after trying to settle down to a quiet peaceful life stateside at the family ranch in Arizona after spending decades abroad,” says film’s official synopsis.
I loved the way the character arc developed throughout this entire franchise and I can’t wait for it to come to the theatres. From sufferer to a protector, Stallone portrays all the emotions with ease and perfection. Even at this age, he has enough charisma to make our hair rise in excitement!
