Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes has supposedly created another masterpiece with this new upcoming movie “1917”. He is depicting the great war or what we call World War 1, with his own vision, starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
The trailer begins by showing two soldiers searching from one’s brother whose battalion is unknowingly on a suicide mission to clash with the enemy. “They’re walking into a trap. Your orders are to deliver a message to call off tomorrow morning’s attack. If you don’t, we will lose 1,600 men — your brother among them,” the pair of soldiers receive a message from Firth. The trailer moves forward with disturbing scenes of their journey like men crawling through rivers filled with dead bodies, clawing through barbed wires, and running through destroyed fields. “If you fail, it will be a massacre.”
“There is only one way this war ends,” Cumberbatch adds. “Last man standing.”
We have seen Cumberbatch in many great performances before and this character is just another feather in his hat. The trailer is so good and looks so real. truly seems like an oscar-winning director made it. We can’t get enough of how amazingly Cumberbatch pulled off this role.
Mendes — who has won an Academy Award previously for his work: 2000’s American Beauty, asked his former Skyfall collaborators to work on this huge project. He invited Oscar-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins and also hired 14-time Oscar nominee Thomas Newman to create the film’s main score. We will also see Richard Madden and Mark Strong in this movie when it releases on December 25. A long wait indeed.
