Before you get a dog, you must consider a few characteristics. If you are single and live alone, you must consider having as many of these traits as possible:
1. The Size
The size should be in consideration with your living space. If your apartment is small, you should probably go for smaller sized breeds like pugs, boxers, etc. A labrador or German Shephard would surely crowd up your small apartment.
2. Low Maintenance Cost
Single guys have really tight schedule almost every day. Working, meeting friends, going on dates takes up their lot of time. Sometimes they forget to brush their own hair. So how will they brush the dog’s fur? Some breeds need brushing every day, not because of aesthetic purpose, but also their overall health. Not brushing may cause them irritation and fur mats. So you must get low maintenance and low fur dog.
3. Minimum Shedding
Just like our hair-fall, dogs also shed fur almost every day. Furry dogs like golden retrievers shed a lot of furs every day and you must clean your place regularly. So, take a dog with minimum shedding, if you have a problem regarding cleaning.
4. Personality Match
Just like having a life partner, having a dog should also be treated. Your personality, your energy levels must match with the dog. Some dogs have needs of being outside every day and play and run. So, if you are a couch potato, you won’t enjoy being with that dog.
