“Sex Education” (the series) has won the hearts by being relatable to anyone who has ever felt conscious about their body while having sex with the lights on, or has been embarrassed by their parents in front of friends. And now fans on twitter can’t stop speaking their minds out about how badly they want a second season.
All those wishes have been heard. Netflix recently announced a second season with a cute video. About the new season, writer Laurie Nunn said, “The welcome to series one has been so exciting. Seeing how people across the world have connected to characters that began as ideas in my head is incredible. I’m hugely grateful to every person that has taken time out to watch the series, and I can’t wait to continue this amazing journey.”
Netflix has not currently confirmed when the show will be back, but series star Ncuti Gatwa told RadioTimes.com that the shooting would start in spring 2019.
The streaming company properly confirmed on 1st May 2019 that shooting had begun, posting a video of the cast coming together for the first read-through of season 2.
Going back to season 1 we saw Otis ‘Pleasure Master’ grow in confidence, and even though his thoughts for his sex therapy business partner, Maeve, weren’t common (or so he thought…), at the end of the series he does gets a kiss from Ola (Patricia Allison), his mum’s new sexy handyman’s daughter (who is his mom’s boyfriend too!).
Around that time, Maeve seems lost after finally realizing that her boyfriend Jackson isn’t all he’s broken up to be. And just when she decides to move on and approach Otis, she sees him kissing Ola.
The creators have confirmed that all the main characters and cast will be present in the second season. This means Gillian Anderson will be continuing as her character Jean, Asa Butterfield as Otis, Emma Mackey as Maeve, Ncuti Gatwa as Eric, Aimee-Lou Wood as Aimee, Connor Swindells as Adam, Kedar Williams-Stirling as Jackson, Tanya Reynolds as Lily, and Patricia Allison as Ola.
All the creators and actors have been tight-lipped about disclosing any plot details for the new season, but series star Ncuti Gatwa, who plays the character of Eric, told RadioTimes.com “I would like for Eric to get better at playing the French horn. I would also like people to know it is the French horn. People often mistake it for the trombone, but it’s not.” You tell ’em, ‘tromboner’!
We believe that other possible storylines for series two could be the future of Eric’s romance with Adam. That would be a treat to watch isn’t it? We might also see some development is Otis and Ola’s relationship. Fingers crossed.
The trailer for Season2 is right here for you, if you haven’t seen it as yet..
