We all wish to become more productive, do more and achieve more. Learning to organize is the first step toward a productive life. When there is clutter around us, our attention is disturbed and as a result, we fail to perform to our full potential. With rat race going on all around the world, it is important that you stay focussed and organized in your office. Follow these pointers and ace the game.
Ritualize Your Work Day
Do not slog. Make a list of things you need to do at the office in a day. Better if you make the list for the next day, before leaving the office. This will keep your mind clear and focused. As you complete each job on the list, your confidence level will rise, and you won’t realize how your shift got over.
De-Clutter Your Desk
Our desks are like our shrine. This piece of furniture holds everything that provides you with livelihood at the end of each month. Hence, remove every unnecessary item from the desk. There could be old receipts, rubber bands, stapler pins, old files and so on. Sort them and clean up your workspace. Cleaning up makes positive energy flow in and hence productivity.
Keep a Planner Handy
We all think that we will be able to remember what we have to do this weekend or next Monday. But with a busy like we have right now, we forget often. The planner helps you keeping the dates handy and also tells you if you are free on a particular date or not. This helps you stay organized.
Color Coding
This can be a bit tricky, but you can try to organize your files by color-coding. This makes you more efficient when the time is less. You can also organize them in alphabetical order. When you are asked, you can pick out the file in a second.
Tiny Things Matter
Suppose you need to staple some paper and you cannot find your stapler. The documents are important and must be filed immediately. You have to waste your time by leaving your desk and going to other desks to see if they have your stapler. Even if you borrow their stapler for some time, you will face the same problem again later, if you don’t have your own stapler. Now, this happens a lot, that someone borrowed yours a few days ago, and you never asked it back, and you forget about it. So, for this, keep little sticky notes on your desk, and write it down whenever someone borrows something. It will be a great time saver.
